Felt compelled to do my first journal post today, sharing a bit about the last day, as well as a bit about who I am. First things first I suppose, so I'll start with the latter. As my profile indicates, I'm 33, a Christian, a father of two wonderful sons, an ex husband of a woman who is not so much a Christian (you young folks heed my words, be careful who you marry, make sure you're right, and that they are too, it will save you a whole lot of heartbreak, and besides, you deserve the right person, not just the first one that comes along), and Sophomore in college getting a Bachelors in Christian Ministry and Education. I come from a pretty rough background, but God has been most gracious and faithful in helping me to overcome every last challenge this world has ever thrown at me, and goodness it's thrown some good ones. This leads me to yesterday, and the beginning of the latest challenge. I was actually fishing, wading in the little stream I live next to when I took that shot I posted yesterday, catching some fresh dinner in fact. While I certainly was blessed to catch dinner, I also caught something else, a a blood sucking invertebrate commonly known as a leech. Happens sometimes, and while it usually isn't an issue (salt is pretty handy), this time was unfortunately a little different. So I woke up this morning with a swollen right foot, itching like crazy from some kind of weird reaction to the bite, second time this summer it's happened, never happened before that. Regardless I went to the doctor, who of course provided some medicine to help, and it certainly will. Moreover, my doc happens to be a Christian as well, and as he knew I was going to Honduras at the end of December to do some mission work, he graciously provided an extra tube of the high powered cream to help with sketchy stuff like this, a powerful resource for myself and the fella I am traveling with. This gets me to the caption, and the bit of Scripture that was confirmed through all of this: "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 So you see, it's all connected, all serves a better purpose, even something as ridiculous as a leech bite. If you happen to be out there struggling with a metaphorical leech bite of your own, please let this be encouragement for you, as God is incredible at taking lemons and making lemonade, He did make the lemon trees after all 😏 God Bless you friends, and I hope things are well in your world 🙏🙏🙏
