Putting On The Armor of God

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."

Ephesians 6:10-12

There is a lot of craziness in this wicked and broken world around us, and it makes it all the more pertinent to be dressed in the whole armor of God. In doing so we will not only be prepared to stand, but we will also be protected as believers from the devil's attempts to steal or joy. Once we are saved the devil works very hard to accomplish that task, and so I want to offer two keys to neutralizing the effectiveness of these attacks. What's more, these keys will also help us to grow closer in our relationships with Christ Jesus, to grow our faith, and to not just defend our peace and joy, but to actually grow them, along with love, regardless of any storm, attack, or distraction we may face. With no further ado, our two keys to success as disciples of Christ, of putting on the whole armor of God after we have received Christ Jesus, after we receiving the helmet of salvation, are simply to stay in God's Word, to read it, and to pray, to pray without ceasing. When we read God's Word we are feeding our souls in the same way we feed our bodies, and rest assured we are fueling up with only the finest with the Bread of Life He has so graciously left us. Prayer allows us to cast our burdens upon Him, and if we are wise, gives us time to be silent and listen while focused solely upon Him and His will. If we will focus on daily spending time on these two keys, each of us will unlock the door to considerable spiritual growth, and certainly find ourselves clothed in the whole armor of God, prepared to stand regardless of any and all situations that may arise on our long journeys Home.
